In this project, 900,000 square feet of residential and retail uses are woven into the historic Niagara and Fort York neighbourhood with a contemporary design that is inspired by the area’s turn-of-the-century warehouses. The massing creates a transition from the towers of City Place to the low-rise character of the existing neighbourhood by terracing down from a height of 18 storeys along Front Street to 14 stories along Niagara Street and Victoria Memorial Park. The pedestrian environment is renewed by locating retail frontages along Bathurst and Front Streets, while the residential character surrounding the park is continued with a series of two-storey townhouses. The project embraces sustainability and will target a LEED Silver rating.
